Rahul death: Tolly unites to demand justice, Priyanka files FIR in Talsari

A crucial weekend unfolded in the industry’s push for justice in the death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, who drowned during the shoot of Bhole Baba Par Karega in Talsari. Around 2am on Sunday, Priyanka Sarkar, accompanied by Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Jisshu U Sengupta and Indrasish Roy, travelled to Talsari, Odisha, to file a second FIR. The first was lodged on Saturday at Regent Park police station by Shantilal Mukherjee. Speaking to us, Rituparna said, “We are standing by Priyanka; the next step will be known soon.”

Details of the FIRs
Two FIRs have been filed in connection with Rahul’s death. The first, a zero FIR, was filed at Regent Park Police Station by Shantilal Mukherjee on behalf of the Artists’ Forum against the production house, Saibal Banerjee and Leena Gangopadhyay, alleging criminal conspiracy, negligence and misleading statements. The second one was filed at the Talasari Marine Police Station in Odisha by Priyanka under sections 106(1), 240 and 3(5) of the BNS 2023, naming the same individuals, along with Subhashish Mondal, Shantanu Nandi and Chandra Sekhar Chakraborty, citing death by negligence, endangering life, and “suppression of facts through criminal intimidation.”

‘The show already has a new cast in place'
A source, who wished to remain anonymous, said the third season of Bhole Baba Par Karega has already been aired. The new cast includes actresses Shreya Basak as the protagonist and Barninee Chakraborty as the antogonist. The last episode of season 2 was telecast on April 1.

‘Only Artists’ Forum can stop the shoot’
The anonymous source said, “The telecast of the first episode of the third season was on April 4. The shoot is taking place at Dashani Studios 2. The Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India is unlikely to intervene. Only the Artists’ Forum can raise an objection and halt the shoot in pursuit of justice for Rahul’s death.”
