Revealed: The cast of Goutam Ghose’s new film

Twelve years after making Yatra with Rekha and Nana Patekar, when Goutam Ghose began his Hindi film in

Jharkhand

last week, it left many curious. More so, as he had kept the project under wraps. Now it turns out that the film, tentatively titled One Day in the Rain, features some of the country’s finest actors like Adil Hussain, Neeraj Kabi and Tillotama Shome.

Adil, who was seen in two back-to-back Bengali films — Ahare Mon and Maati — is excited about the venture. “It’s a privilege to work with Goutam Ghose. He is a master filmmaker and I have adored his works even as a teenager. He is completely clear in his head about what he wants; that’s also because he is such a fine cinematographer himself,” said Adil.

The film, which reflects on moral degradation of society, deals with rare human qualities like kindness and compassion and how they have nothing to do with class distinction. “I am playing an interesting character and am happy to be amidst great actors like Tillotama Shome and Neeraj Kabi. I wanted to work with Neeraj for long and am glad that it’s finally happening,” added Adil. The unit is currently shooting in a remote location in Jharkhand and Adil said, “I can see the vast expanse of rural Jharkhand and it’s beautiful.”

Ghose, a festival favourite, has been lauded for many of his films and some of them include his Hindi features. In the past, his Paar (1985), Patang(1993) and Gudia (1996) have all been adjudged as Best Feature Films in Hindi at
