’ which releases today in Bangladesh. The plot revolves around a touching friendship between a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, played by Sabyasachi and Suborna Mustafa respectively.

When we asked the seasoned actor what made him say yes to this Bangladeshi film, Sabyasachi promptly says it’s the character that attracted him because it’s not the kind of roles he has done so far.

“Basically, the director (Fakhrul Arefin Khan) grabbed my attention. Because I have been playing roles like a detective, a policeman or a bad man (laughs), I’ve never played a role like this- a well-behaved, well-educated man, who knows how to talk to ladies with respect, one of those socially acceptable characters. I, with my looks and all, tend to suit for roles which are a little more tough and aggressive. I asked the director “Why are you selecting me for this role?” He said I think you’ll do justice. I said if you have the confidence, I’m willing to give it a try. After that, I came to know that my co-star is Suborna Mustafa, which also prompted me to say yes because I would get an opportunity to work with her,” revealed the versatile actor who will soon be seen in a Tenida film directed by Sayantan Ghosal of Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan’ fame.

Besides Sabyasachi and Suborna Mustafa, ‘Gondi’ also sees Aparna Ghosh, Maznun Mizan and Aman Reza in pivotal roles.
