‘Shankar Mudi’ trailer gives Kaushik Ganguly a different look

Some movies create characters penned with a special actor in mind. Legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray proved it on several occasions, most famously in ‘Nayak’ (1966), which featured Bengal’s matinee idol Uttam Kumar in lead role. Director Aniket Chattopadhyay has done the same for his upcoming movie ‘Shankar Mudi’, which has actor-director Kaushik Ganguly in the titular role.The makers have recently released the official trailer of ‘Shankar Mudi’ on social media and Kaushik seemed a perfect fit for his character in the social drama. As a character artist, he looks every bit convincing in the role of a typical neighbourhood grocer.The film, as revealed by the director, is all about a locality in suburban Kolkata, and how the people living there struggle to adjust to their daily life when a shopping mall comes up.‘Shankar Mudi’s ensemble cast includes big names from the industry such as Soumitra Chatterjee, Shantilal Mukherjee, Saswata Chatterjee, Kanchan Mullick, Biswanath Basu, Jisshu Sengupta and others. Director Anjan Dutt has also been cast as a school teacher in the film.The Aniket Chattopadhyay directorial is set to release this summer.
