Subhrajit Mitra’s period drama ‘
Avijatrik
’ continues its festival journey. After Miami Film Festival, the film is now an official selection at the 18
th Chennai International Film Festival. It will be screened in the Indian Panorama section. This is the 14th festival laurel for the film. ‘Avijatrik’ which was earlier screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival and the IFFI Goa has received quite a lot of praise from critics worldwide.
With ‘Avijatrik’ (The Wanderlust of Apu) – the enduring and endearing character of Apu is all set to return after 60 years on the big screen! It is the sequel to the classic Apu Trilogy, directed by
Satyajit Ray. The plot takes off from where
Apu Trilogy
had ended in 1959 with ‘Apur Sansar’. The story revolves around a sublime bond between a father (Apu) and his 6-year-old son (Kajol). The film has explored a beautiful tapestry of pure interpersonal relationships to recreate the magic of Apu– sharing adventures with his beloved son, Kajol.
While
Arjun Chakrabarty
plays the titular role of Apu, seasoned actor and also Arjun’s father Sabyasachi Chakraborty s the role of Apu’s globetrotter friend. The cast of ‘Abhijatrik’ has already made everyone buzzing about the film.
Arpita Chatterjee will be seen as Leela, Sreelekha Mitra plays Ranu di,
Ditipriya Roy as Aparna and Sohag Sen playing Ranu’s elder sister, among others essaying key roles.
