While his latest directorial ‘

’ has been lapped up by the Bengali cine buffs, ‘

Rong Beronger Korhi

’, his second film, has earned director Ranjan Ghosh his due recognition and acclaim not only in India but abroad as well, despite a slump at the so-called box office business last year.

And now looks like Ranjan’s film has left a mark in international film circuit as the social drama continues its festival journey, the latest being an official selection at the 20th

Rainbow Film Festival

and Film Hub London. It will be screened on July 24, at 5 PM, at the Brady Arts Centre, London.

While talking about ‘Rong Beronger Korhi’s journey, an emotional Ranjan said: “Thanks to these festivals that our films are not lost. My first film ‘Hrid Majhare’ already earned recognition in international academia. But ‘Rong Beronger Korhi’didn’t get the publicity during release. Many people still don’t even know that it has already released last year. Some think Ahaa Re is my second film. Now, it’s good to see that people are talking about the film and it is travelling for festivals, like such a prestigious one BFI Rainbow Film Festival.”

Being an independent filmmaker, the director is also happy to see that his latest offering ‘Ahaa Re’ has been under the limelight for the first six months of 2019. “Ahaa Re has grabbed the headlines almost every day. It was showed at Nandan for quite a while. It’s not that box office success is the ultimate criteria to judge a film. I know whoever has seen Ahaa Re has loved it. In Hyderabad and Bengaluru film festivals, people have appreciated the film. See, that’s my point. We, the independent filmmakers are trying our best to bring a change to prove box office success is not everything,” added Ranjan.
