The official poster of Pratyabartan is out
The official poster of Pratyabartan (The Return) directed and written by Samarpan Sengupta, starring Anjan Dutt, Rupa Ganguly, Silajit Majumdar, Aparajita Adhya, Kharaj Mukherjee, Koneenica Banerjee and others is out. The film promises a deeply immersive cinematic experience rooted in emotion, memory, and consequence.
Dr Dipankar Sanyal, a man rooted in the simplicity of a remote village in Purulia, leaves behind his modest life as a professor at a small-town medical college and moves to Kolkata with his wife, Shalini, and their three-year-old daughter. Driven by the hope of a better future, he dreams of success, comfort, and opportunities that only a big city can offer. But as the years pass, the relentless pace of urban life begins to reshape them. What starts as a pursuit of stability gradually turns into a race for status, success, and social validation. In the process, the Sanyals drift away from their values—and from each other. Twelve years later, their once close-knit family stands fractured. Their teenage daughter, Disha, grows up in emotional isolation, unseen and unheard. Seeking connection and identity, she turns to the digital world, finding solace in social media—until a moment of crisis changes everything. The fallout is devastating. Society turns its back on the now-renowned surgeon Dr Dipankar Sanyal and his socially prominent wife, Shalini. Condemnation replaces compassion, and their lives unravel under public scrutiny. But in the face of judgment, they choose accountability over escape. Confronted with their failures, Dipankar and Shalini embark on a journey back to their roots—a return not just to a place, but to their lost sense of self.
"What follows is a powerful struggle—against guilt, against societal condemnation, and ultimately, for redemption," said the director.
