The third edition of the Chitra Devi Music and Dance Festival was recently held at a city venue. It was organized by dance exponent Sanchita Bhattacharya. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the event showcased a stunning fusion of music and dance performances by globally acclaimed artists, captivating the audience in Kolkata.
The festival began with a performance by Sangeet Natak Akademy award-winning flautist Pt. Ronu Majumder, accompanied by Pt. Prosenjit Poddar. This was followed by an Bharatnatyam performance by the distinguished Padmashree Guru Prathibha Prahlad. The event further honored dance exponents Poushali Mukherjee and Sutapa Talukdar for their outstanding contributions to Odissi classical dance.
The festival concluded with a captivating Mahari dance presentation by Rupashree Mohapatra, a recipient of the Mahari Award and Debadasi National Award.
The program was presented by Sanchita Bhattacharya and PP Rtn Subhojit Roy, who, in his closing remarks, said, "We shall carry back the prayer in our heart for 'Abhaya' and our resolve that we demand justice."
