Srijit Mukherjee is set to bring another nostalgic ride down the memory lane. His next ‘
Shah Jahan Regency
’ featuring a stellar cast is releasing on January 18.
Abir Chatterjee plays one of the lead characters Samiran Bose in this big screen adaptation of Sankar’s best-selling novel
Chowringhee
. You may find an uncanny similarity between his character name and
Uttam Kumar’s character Sata Bose in the 1968 cult classic ‘Chowringhee’ but Srijit has made it clear his film adaptation focuses on the whole story instead of one particular character.
Here’s an interesting video to double your excitement as Abir introduces his character Samran Bose from ‘Shah Jahan Regency’ and you would instantly fall for his new avatar.
“Chowringhee always rings a nostalgic bell among us. But I must say ‘Shah Jahan Regency’ is not at all a rip off from that novel. It has been adapted from the book while the main plot remains same. I have just altered everything else about the story. It’s a reinterpretation, not a reincarnation,”
Srijit Mukherji had said earlier while elaborating on the film.
