Vijaynagar’er Hirey teaser out now

The teaser of Vijaynagar’er Hirey has been unveiled, signalling the much-awaited return of Kakababu to Bengali cinema. The new film takes forward the legacy of earlier Kakababu adventures including Mishawr Rawhoshyo (2013), Yeti Obhijaan (2017) and Kakababur Protyaborton (2022), as the iconic explorer sets out on another high-stakes quest — this time in the historic landscape of Hampi.
Directed by Chandrasish Ray and based on Sunil Gangopadhyay’s celebrated story, the film follows Kakababu, played by Prosenjit Chatterjee, along with Shontu (Aryann Bhowmik) and Jojo (Pushan Dasgupta), as they pursue a mythical diamond said to outshine even the Kohinoor. The teaser sets the tone for a gripping blend of suspense, wit and adventure, while retaining the trademark essence of the beloved character.
A standout moment in the teaser highlights Kakababu’s sharp humour and self-awareness, as he wryly brushes aside the label of “living legend,” hinting instead at the dangers surrounding the mission. Shontu appears as the steady and perceptive ally, with Jojo adding further depth to the investigative journey. The teaser also introduces Satyam Bhattacharya and Sreya Bhattacharya, who receive Kakababu’s team in Hampi, paving the way for a story steeped in intrigue and discovery — with the central mystery left tantalisingly unresolved for audiences to uncover.
