Nusrat Jahan marries boyfriend Nikhil Jain in Turkey

Nusrat Jahan, the actress-MP, now officially Mrs Nusrat Jahan, had a dream wedding with businessman Nikhil Jain at Six Senses Kaplankaya in the Turkish town of Bodrum on June 19. No wonder, #theNJaffair was on everyone’s lips in Kolkata. The actress kept the ceremony low-key with only friends and relatives attending it. However, her bestie Mimi Chakraborty was there to grace the occasion. Nusrat reached Bodrum on June 16. Celebrations for the couple began on June 17, when they had their first get-together. The mehendi and sangeet ceremonies were held the following day.

Ritwick to play a detective in Pratim D Gupta’s next

While two Byomkesh films are set for a box office battle this Puja, Pratim D Gupta is ready to treat you with another one, an original new detective. Shantilal Bhattacharya, played by Ritwick Chakraborty, is a weather reporter for an esteemed English newspaper who turns into a detective when he pursues a breaking story about a film star Nandita (played by Paoli Dam). Pratim’s detective thriller ‘Shantilal O Projapoti Rohoshyo’ will see the extraordinary journey of this new detective.

Shiboprosad-Nandita’s next ‘Gotro’ set for August release

What’s the real cast of a human? As soon as this question surfaced on Windows Production’s social media timeline yesterday it made everyone curious. Suddenly, out of nowhere, this question? Bengali cine buffs were baffled. Finally, the answer came on Thursday morning. It’s actually Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s next film titled ‘Gotro’. The title itself suggests what the film is all about. The communal violence that has stormed the entire nation in recent times stands for an ideal backdrop of ‘Gotro’s plot which will explore the ill effects of cast system in our society.

‘Gumnaami’ in yet another controversy

In a latest Facebook post, director Aniket Chattopadhyay took a dig at Gumnaami Baba — the godman who has been rumoured to be Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and on whom director Srijit Mukherji is currently shooting his next on the streets of Kolkata with Prosenjit Chatterjee in the titular role. As promised by Aniket, he continues to come up with a series of Facebook posts trying to expose the mysterious man who settled in Faizabad. “Aniketda has dramatically distorted some claims of Gumnaami theorists,” that’s what Srijit has to say about the latest controversy.

Ambarish to make playback debut

Ambarish Bhattacharya whose latest comic role in Birsa Dasgupta’s ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’ is winning hearts is all set for his playback debut. Ambarish is known for having a good voice in close circles. He has even rendered for many play songs but this is the first time he will do playback in Anjan Dutt’s upcoming ‘Saheber Cutlet’. The song will be recorded later this month. The versatile actor will also be seen as a lawyer in the film.

Chitrangada to take on her mother’s name

On Father’s Day, actress Chitrangada Chakraborty made a bold announcement on social media. “This is to inform you all that today onwards I will be known as ‘Chitrangada Satarupa’ instead of Chitrangada Chakraborty. If there is any person in this world who’s name I should carry with mine is my mother Satarupa Sanyal. Hence this decision. A small gift to the greatest mother, father and my bestest friend. The legal procedures are almost done. Few formalities are left. Post that the above mentioned name will be used for everything I do. Happy Father’s Day maa (sic),” she wrote.

Mir paired opposite Devlina

Mir will soon be seen in a dark thriller ‘Oki Agari’ directed by Samik Roy Chowdhury. It’s a short film, set in the 90s backdrop, produced under the banner of Creative World Entertainment while Sarmishtha Ghosh is the creative producer. Beside Mir as a junior lawyer, the film also stars Devlina Kumar as his client. Rupam Islam has been roped in to compose the music.

Film and serial title cards now in regional languages

Writing the title cards for regional films and serials in English alone will soon become a past. With a view to enhance the outreach and circulation of Indian languages, title cards will now have to be written in the regional languages. In addition to that, makers can also display the titles in English. This was shared by Information & Broadcast Minister Prakash Javadekar at a meeting with the members of the Film Federation of India (FFI) recently.
