Directed by Raghuram, this Bengali film had superstar Mithun Chakraborty and Tollywood diva Rituparna Sengupta in the lead. ‘Bhagya Debata’ was later dubbed in Hindi as 'Krantikari'.

Interestingly, Rajinikanth was seen as a singer in the title song of the film during a stage performance scene. The song which became quite a hit at that time talked about man’s fate and how one shouldn’t lose hope in any crisis. As the story goes, many say that it was Mithun who requested Rajini for the special appearance and the South superstar happily agreed to play his part in the Bengali film.

In the action-drama of revenge and vengeance, Mithun played Jagadish Mondal who is always there to help the poor. Interestingly, ‘Bhagya Debata’ and 'Bhrashtachar' are the two films in which Mithun Chakraborty and Rajinikanth shared the screen. Although the two superstars didn’t do many films together, both of them have always showered praise on each other.

Later, on several occasions, Rituparna admitted that it was a privilege for her to share the screen space with none other than Rajinikanth and it remains the most precious gift in his career.
