We have already stepped into 2022 but instead of rejoicing, people are tensed and scared about a possible third wave of Covid-19. With the number of
Omicron cases rising up, showbiz is once again facing the heat. Films are getting postponed, actors are testing positive which might lead to their respective shoots getting stalled — there is so much at stake. But the entertainment industry is hopeful.
Saswata Chatterjee, too, doesn’t want to think too much about uncertainties and the pandemic.
The last two lockdowns showed the seasoned actor how staying jobless can impact us on a massive scale. But above all, he’s surprised and seeks one answer. Why do education and entertainment have to suffer the most? Saswata asks, “More than getting angry to see irresponsible people don’t wear masks or unnecessary gatherings I am getting irritated to see the politicians. “When these meetings, political gatherings, campaigns are being organized where’s the pandemic concern? Does corona stay away from them?”
The ‘
Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri
actor also adds, “If the political leaders had thought about the common people and COVID ahead of elections instead of their personal gain we wouldn’t have seen such horrific situation.”
At the same time, Saswata feels the future looks uncertain for film business. “Why the producers will invest if there’s no profit? How will filmmakers work? How will the actors and technicians earn? Just when the box office had started to look up after the pandemic the Omicron scare has once again put pressure on showbiz. Let’s hope we sail through this phase soon.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Saswata whose last film ‘
Anusandhaan
’ had a decent outing at the box office will next be seen in Sayantan Ghosal’s thriller ‘
Swastik Sanket
’ which was supposed to release on January 21 but given the current situation, the release might get postponed.
