This International Women’s Day, the fifth edition of Shoi — an annual soiree —will reveal an all-female rock band in Kolkata on March 8. Six young musicians, all hail from different corners of Bengal, are gearing up to perform on the day.
“As of now, we are practising covers — both Hindi and Bengali. Once we get settled in the scene, we will start performing originals too,” said Sonali Banerjee, the keyboardist and vocalist of the band, said.
The band also features Ashmita Kar and Ushoshi Bhattacherjee in vocals, Gargi Roy Chowdhury in the lead guitar, Mitali Das in rhythm guitar and Sampurna Roy in drums.
The band is formed recently and the members have been practising for a couple of months. “We are doing Hindi commercial music too. Soon, we will take it forward to the next level,” said Sonali.
