City gears up for regular metal nights

Are you ready for some headbanging, loud distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms and dense drum sound? The hitherto little-known and undercover Bengali metal musicians are gearing up for monthly gigs dedicated to this genre of music. The initiative will kickstart on March 26 with three metal bands, Half Major, The Prophesor and Atmahattya at a city pub.“In January, we hosted a metal night and hence we are calling the project Metal night 2.0. The metal music scene in Kolkata is not robust yet. There are musicians but so far it has little publicity. We are trying to initiate the project so that the music gets popularity. In Bangladesh, there are scopes of metal music. We would like to create a space here too,” said Nabarun Bose, one of the key members of The Prophesor.
