October 18 marked the

second death anniversary

of

iconic Bangladeshi musician Ayub Bachchu

. For many, he was an idol, inspiration and a mentor. Music director and lead vocalist of Kolkata-based folk band Sahajiya,

Deb Chowdhury

, wrote and composed a song,

Mayabi Guitar Phele

, the day he heard the news of his idol’s demise two years back. And the very next day, as a mark of tribute, he had sung the acoustic version of it on a music show on television. After two years, on Ayub’s second death anniversary, Deb released the song online along with a music video.

Talking about the song, Deb said, “Ayub Bachchu was the rock icon of our generation. When I was young and just with my music career, I spent many sleepless nights listening his songs and strumming on a half-broken guitar that I had. I have always looked up to him. I have written, composed and sung the song, Mayabi Guitar Phele. It is my tribute to Ayub Bachchu and thought of coming up with a music video online on his second death anniversary. Rudraneel Chowdhury has played all the instruments like lead and bass guitar, drums, keyboard, has also rendered the vocal harmony and done the music design. Audio mixing and mastering is by Krishnendu Mondal, cinematography of the music video is by Suman Sarkar and the video editing is done by Abhishek Pradhan.”

Ayub Bachchu, the founder of the Bangladeshi rock band

LRB

, was suffering from a lung ailment since 2012 but continued his musical journey until his last breath. He put up a rocking performance on October 16, 2018, in a concert held at a school in

Dhaka

, just two days before of his demise. The musician suffered a massive cardiac arrest and breathed his last on October 18, 2018.
