Fans getting onto the stage for selfies in unacceptable: Anupam Roy

The incident which happened with Sonu Nigam is something we artistes keep on facing. It is the risk of our profession, which is unavoidable as there is no sense of discipline and balance in most of us. After performing for two-three hours, when we get down from the stage sweating and tired, fans ask us for selfies. We have no option but to oblige with the fear that if we don’t, they will start putting up social media posts saying we are arrogant and not humble. Some fans cross the line and try to get onto the stage to take pictures, which is unacceptable. The funniest part is that the security personnel who are there for our security are often busy clicking pictures with us -- what do we say to this? This is a very disorganised sector and nothing much can be done about it unless we begin to respect people’s privacy. We, performers, are also human beings. The security staff on duty also needs to be stricter and more disciplined.
