Khnada to tie the knot with old friend

Khnada to tie the knot with old friend
They met for the first time more than a decade ago. Back then, he had proposed marriage to her and she had declined. Twelve years down the line, the two are set to tie the knot. Khnada Bhattacherjee and Souptik Chakraborty’s love story is what romcoms are made of. About her February wedding to Souptik, who currently lives in Argentina and works for a software firm, Khnada said, “My fiancé is not a musician. He is a software engineer. We know each other for many years now. He proposed to me about 12 years ago and I politely declined. I was stupid then,” Khnada confessed, adding, “Later, he proposed to me again, about a few months ago. He told me, ‘Enough of it now! Let’s get married’. And this time, I agreed.”Khnada, who was earlier in a relationship with Silajit, has already started inviting friends for her wedding. “It is going to be a long list. Most of my friends were expecting this for a while,” she said. But did Silajit wish her? “Of course. I meet him almost every day as I am a member of his band. We perform together. I have invited him and he wished me luck,” Khnada added. The wedding card is ready and it’s being designed by Khnada’s long-time friend and a senior musician, Upal Sengupta.
“Whoever knows Upalda, always asks him to design his or her wedding invite. I am no exception. I asked him and he’s happily made me one. It is both quirky and funny,” she said. How did Khnada and Souptik know each other? “Around 12 years ago, I went for a show at a Dum Dum school. He attended the gig with a friend, Somnath Ghoshal. Souptik was working on a documentary, Rehab. He asked my friend if I would do the playback for his docu. Before that, I had never sung any soft rock number. I agreed to sing and also did a cameo. That’s how we first came close. The song was called Glycerine. It was penned by Somnath and was composed by another friend, Tamal Kanti Halder. In fact, it was after this film that he proposed to me and I said no. But we always kept in touch, even after he left the country,” said Khnada.
