Paridhi and Joy Sarkar team up for an audio theatre

After working on a web project based on Rabindranath

Tagore

’s short story, Bengali band

Paridhi

and musician Joy Sarkar joined hands yet again for an audio-theatre song, Masakali.
The play, also titled Masakali, is produced by a group called

Kolkata Ramrama

and the story is set in Kolkata. It is a neighborhood story -- a boy and a girl from a typical para of south Kolkata. While the storyline includes many other things like lockdown and the typical para culture of Kolkata, a love story between the boy and the girl will also be a part of it. “So, the team wanted us to make the music in retro style and Joy da (Sarkar) composed it accordingly. We, Paridhi, have arranged the music,” said

Souptik Majumder

, a member of the group.
During the lockdown, Paridhi regularly did online shows for common people from their social media page and the events were called ‘Quarantine Jam’. “We wanted people to cheer up and not fall for depression or mental illnesses during those months. That was the whole reason we came up with this idea,” Souptik added. The jam was all about reinterpretation of old songs and singing them in a new way. While Paridhi is known for their folk music, they often experimented with different genres in those jams.
