Samik Roy Choudhury’s new song dwells on how to improve mental health in this crisis

More than physical, the corona

pandemic

has affected our minds worldwide — the uncertainty leading to anxiety and depression. This very thought had been troubling filmmaker-music composer Samik Roy Choudhury greatly. Prompted by an urge to do something good for people, Samik has come up with a

new song

of

hope

and

cheer

.

"The sole message of the Bengali song — Atmohotyar Khoshra — is to give hope to those who are mentally suffering in this crisis. "Just like most physical illnesess, it is possible to overcome mental illnesses as well. Being a singer and filmmaker, I thought it was my responsibility to share my experience through a song," he added.

To express the pain and the entire phase of depression, which often leads people to take a drastic step, he has chosen his words very carefully. After writing the lyrics, he contacted two of his musician friends. While Shibasish Bannerjee produced the track, Chayan Chakraborty played the

guitar

and mixed the song. "Once the song was made I thought of making a music video. But shooting in the current situation was challenging. So we planned a home-shoot with only DoP Prosenjit Koley," Samik added.
