Upal, Prabuddha, Dipangshu and friends join hands to celebrate music

This year, the World

Music

Day celebration was different than the other years for many city musicians. The day that used to full of live concerts had turned into a homebound ordinary day for them. But that did not stop their music. Upal Sengupta, Prabudhha Banerjee, Dipangshu Acharya and others joined hands to create an original song to mark the day. Termed as Pianor Gaan, the song is penned by Dipangshu, composed and sung by Upal.

“During the lockdown, Dipangshu sent me a song one day and asked me if I could compose it. I liked it so much that it took no time to compose. He liked the composition. Prabuddhada heard the song and liked it. He arranged the music. We all decided to make this our song for Music Day. My friend Tenny (Abhijit Roy), who lives in Mumbai mixed and arrange it,” Upal told us.

The music video is an animation of a painting by Deyali Mukherjee. The animation is created by Sriram Raja.

, the world seems to be a grim place to live in. In reality, we think, it is a bit of everything. For every cloud, there is a silver lining, for every dark night, there is a bright morning and for every shade of black, there is pristine white. This is the song all about,” the musician said.
