They were a bit tense alright. After all, they were going to perform in front of the big man of the group, Bratya Basu. But that could not deter the exuberance of more than 30 children — all aged between six and 14 — who gathered at the rehearsal pad of Kalindi Bratyajon to perform this year’s production, Bhombol Sardar, on Sunday morning. “Every year, Kalindi Bratyajan organises a workshop for children.

This year, we chose Bhombol Sardar. Bratyada keeps an eye on the performance. He oversees their performance right before they go for technical rehearsal. And then again, just when they are ready to hit the stage,” said Prithwis Rana, a member of Kalindi Bratyajan. While the play is written by Khagendranath Mitra, another member, Sumanta Roy, is directing the youngsters.
“We nurture the artistes in these children. We have been doing this workshop for the last seven years. Earlier, we have worked on Domoruchorit, Laxmaner Shoktishel, Chander Pahar and other children's literature. I am sure, people will like this year’s production as well,” said Bratya.
