City theatre group innovates with original social media content

Making an impact with one’s work in the times of

lockdown

has been difficult for creative professionals. Especially for

theatre

artistes, live shows could seldom be replaced with social media content. But theatre group Ichheymoto racked their brains to come up with an original idea that was loved by many. Addressing various stigmas that prevail within the society at a time like this, four performers deal with them in every episode of stand-up comedy-like social media content called Four Some Thing and thrash age old mal-practices.

“Honest, practical and courageous work is not found elsewhere except theatre. At least in

, other mediums don’t match up to the rich content of theatre. Theatre work was affected during the lockdown but our Facebook page was going strong. Since social taboos, politics and religion are taking us years back, I wanted to bring the discussion out in the open. We want to continue with this post lockdown too. After the first episode, a lot of brands are wanting to associate with us. We will decide that depending on the financial terms,” said

, the director of the theatre group.

Their first work, Your Bra Strap Is Showing, featured Turna Das, Debi Saha, Ankita Majhi and Sulagna Nath in direct conversation with the camera. They shot them inside their homes. Saurav would have wanted a different creative form had there been no lockdown. “I would have made them sit together and conduct an adda on stage,” he said.

Their second content is called Don’t Whisper, Stay Free and will feature the same four women. They have just begun to conceptualise the third content, which is yet untitled and will feature four men.
