Ghasiram Kotwal to stage its 50th show

Sujan Mukhopadhyay-directed Ghasiram Kotwal is going to complete its 50th show and how! The Chetana production will be staged at the 10th anniversary Prachya on August 19 at Academy of Fine Arts. “Ghasiram is practically my first full-length direction. I have a lot of memories attached to this play. While I planned to stage the 50th show under Chetana’s banner, I could not say no to Biplabda (Bandyopadhyay, director of Prachya).I think it is a special moment for all of us as this is also the 10th anniversary of Prachya,” Sujan told us, adding, “Ghasiram was a challenge for me as it involves a huge cast and crew. But this play was staged and appreciated around India and this is an honour for all of us. Last year, when the play was lauded in Pune, we were on cloud nine as this is originally a Marathi production based on Vijay Tendulkar’s eponymous play.”
