Ichheymoto director Saurav Palodhi recovers from COVID-19, urges people not to panic
The pandemic has spread more fear than it's actually harmful, feels theatre personality Saurav Palodhi who has recently recovered from COVID-19. The actor-director of popular theatre group Iccheymoto has gone for an antibody test in end of August and has been declared free of the disease.
"According to World Health Organization (WHO) and its latest reports, one does not need to go for a re-test after 14-17 days of testing positive. What is important is going for an antibody test. This shows whether one has developed herd immunity or not. I have recovered as per the antibody test. Doctors told me if I go for another COVID-19 test, chances are I will again test positive in spite of recovering. There's some scientific explanation to it by WHO, the nitty-gritty of which I don't understand," Saurav shared.
The theatre actor-director's family was safe throughout his illness even though they stayed in the same house. When asked if he took enough precautions or left everything to chance, Saurav said, "Look, I don't live in a palatial apartment that I will quarantine in one corner of the house and my wife and daughter will stay in another corner. It's practically not possible. From the third day onwards, my daughter was with me all day. The doctor said around the world, children who have been affected by COVID-19 have some other ailments. Otherwise, it's not risky for kids. Only I slept in a separate room and used a mask at home too. Both my wife, Turna (Das) and my three-year-old daughter are fine. Turna also went for an antibody test and according to the report she never contracted the disease. Too much of panic is not required."
But how did he get to know that he requires a test and then what was the way to recovery? "I lost all senses of taste and smell. There was tremendous headache. So much so that I couldn't look at my phone screen for five minutes even. Hearing about these symptoms my doctor confirmed even before a test that I am COVID-19 positive. But I took rest, zinc capsules and Vitamin C tablets. That's all. I have been out working right after the lockdown was lifted - for the past three months. Never had a problem before. I was doing the pre-production work of a TV show with a handful of unit members of whom three people turned out COVID-19 positive. But I can't pinpoint how I got it," Saurav said.
He wants to share with everyone that the disease is not as deadly always as made out to be. People can recover with rest and care. His doctor advised him not to panic and stay separate from family members because a caregiver is important.
