“This is one of those rare occasions when we have brought in a theatre personality to direct a mime show. This is because we are visualising this production beyond a typical black and white mime,” Prakriti added. She said that the script is based on the famous puppet show of the same name by Padmasri

Suresh Dutta

and will be a combination of puppeteering and mime. “There will be sets and costumes as we are trying to portray it in a larger than life style,” said Prakriti, adding that it would take another four months before they can stage the show.

In the past, the same group staged a mime show based on the various characters of Satyajit Ray’s films and books. For the unique production, Padabali had secured special permission from Sandip Ray and it was a hit. Other than

Goopy

and Bagha, the story included Devi from the film Devi, the female protagonist of Mahanagar and Durga from Pather Panchali, among others.
