Popular jatra actor Tridib Ghosh, 68, passes away

The popular jatra actor of Bengal, Tridib Ghosh, passed away on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence. The actor was 68.

In his 45-year-long career, the actor had been a part of many big folk theatre groups, like Bharati Opera and Agragami Opera. His brilliant acting skills earned him laurels from across the state. He was adored by his fans in rural Bengal.

Tridib started his jatra career in 1975 with Chittaranjan Opera, after which he joined Natya Company, one of the biggest groups in the jatra circle of Bengal. He is survived by his four brothers and three sisters.

He was highly appreciated for his roles in

Hate Bazare

, Samrat Mirzafar, Ma Bikrir Mamla and many more. Not just that, Tridib had also played supporting roles in Bengali films, like

Swasurbari Zindabad

and

Atmiyo Swajan

.



Mourning about the artiste’s death, actress Sudiptaa Chakraborty wrote on social media: Tridib Ghosh... Jatra samrat... The winner of million hearts... is no more!! May your soul rest in peace sir (sic).
