Sayok celebrates theatre festival with zeal

, 10 plays — curated from all over Bengal — will be competing with each other to be the best play of the year.

, the patriarch of the group, told us, “We have been hosting this festival once every two years since 1998. This year too, we have received around 70 to 80 applications. Our jury shortlisted 10 plays. We call it Nirbachito Purnango Natoker Utsav.” The festival started on April 21 at

. “On June 8, we will give away awards for the three best plays, best actor, actress, directors and so on at the Academy of Fine Arts. Total prize money is about Rs 1 lakh,” added Meghnad. This year, Bibhash Chakraborty, Debashish Majumder, Chandan Sen and Subrata Ghosh are part of the jury.
