Bhojpuri actors who committed suicide for mysterious reasons

Suicide, or ending one’s own life, is a tragic event with strong emotional repercussions for its survivors and for families of its victims. The glamour and glitz life of an actor that we think is just a façade and mysterious. There have been several suicidal incidents in Bhojpuri industry over the years. There are some Bhojpuri industry people who have committed suicide because of their failure while some took their own life because of their twisted relationships.

Anjali Srivastava

Bhojpuri actress-model Anjali Srivastava was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan by a saree in her residence on 19 June 2017. A week before committing suicide, she had uploaded few pictures with a Hindi verse signifying some complications in her love life.

According to reports, worried about not receiving a phone call from her, the family contacted her landlord, who called the police and they entered her home. She was last seen in the action-comedy film, ‘Kehu Ta Dil mein Ba’.

Ruby Singh

A small-time Bhojpuri actress Ruby Singh allegedly committed suicide at her rented flat in Goregaon, Mumbai on 10 February 2012. The 25-year-old left behind a note written in Hindi which she has said nobody should be held responsible for her suicide.

The incident came to light when one of her friends went to meet her. Not responding to the repeated door knocks, he forcibly opened the door and found Ruby’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.

Neelam Singh

Neelam Singh, the wife of Bhojpuri singer-actor Pawan Singh allegedly committed suicide at their residence on 8 March 2015. Neelam was found hanging from the ceiling fan a using dupatta at her flat. Pawan Singh and Neelam had an affair, which led to their marriage a year before she committed suicide. According to reports, Neelam was upset with her husband who used to come home late even after their marriage.

Shamshad Ahmed

Bhojpuri film director-producer Shamshad Ahmed, popularly known as Shaad, allegedly committed suicide at his Mira Road residence by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. While no suicide note was found at the place where he committed suicide. Investigators believe the incident happened during a two-hour gap on the afternoon of 9 November 2017 when his wife stepped out of the house for some work.
