The Bollywood film industry is currently riding high on the wave of remakes and managing to spin box office hits out of it. It's no wonder then, that other film industries including Bhojpuri are also opting for this tried and tested method to churn out hits. While some Bhojpuri films are copied from popular Bollywood films, others are known to lift off famous movie titles and spin their own stories.
Let's take a look at such movies that have famous Bollywood film titles.

'Shahenshah' saw Amitabh Bachchan as a crime-fighting superhero, but the Bhojpuri film by the same name was a romantic-actioner. The Bhojpuri film featured popular actors Ravi Kishan, Anjana Singh along with Brijesh Tripathi, Avadhesh Mishra, Rajan Modi, Anand Mohan, Neeraj Yadav and Dr Archana Singh. With its title, the movie gained a lot of media attention all through its shoot in rural locals of Uttar Pradesh.

Bhojpuri film Border is a bit like the Bollywood movie apart from sharing the same name. The Bollywood flick an interesting lineup of stars including Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Akshay Khanna and others, while the Bhojpuri 'Border' had one of the most popular pairs - Amrapali Dubey and Dinesh Lal Yadav. The movie directed by Santosh Mishra and produced by Pravesh Lal Yadav also had its poster similar to the Hindi film.

The Hindi film 'Gadar', starring Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel is a timeless classic. The movie was based on a love story during the time of partition of India. It was loosely based on the life of Boota Singh. It's no wonder why director Ramakant Prasad looked to this film to make his own romantic-action Bhojpuri version also titled 'Gadar'. The film starred Pawan Singh, Monalisa and Shubhi Sharma in lead roles.

The Bhojpuri film 'Biwi No 1' is a comedy-drama starring Nirahua as a boy in love with a girl but has to go against his family's wishes to marry her. He is caught between wanting to marry the love of his life and the one picked by his family. The movie is directed by Ajit Srivastava and also featured Monalisa and Apurva Bit as lead characters. Meanwhile, the Hindi movie which inspired the film's title revolved around a wife trying hard to win back her husband after she learns he is cheating on her. It starred Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles.

The Bhojpuri film ‘Hera Pheri’ is a romance-comedy about a man two-timing his wife. Starring Khesari Lal Yadav, Kajal Raghwani and Shubhi Sharma in lead roles, the film was directed by Naushad Alam and produced by Yogesh Tiwari and Sunil Dubey.
On the other hand, Bollywood's ‘Hera Pheri’ was one of the best Hindi comedy movie ever made. The film directed by Priyadarshan, starred Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty and Tabu. Much of the acclaim went to Paresh Rawal for his comic timing and acting.

'Wanted' is one of the best action-packed thrillers of Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh that was much loved by the audience. The movie directed by Sujeet Kumar Singh was produced by Jaswant Kumar. The Bollywood movie, on the other hand, was one of the biggest super hits of Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia, directed by Prabhu Deva. The film was a romance-actioner, where Salman played a role of an undercover agent and it went on to become the second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2009.
