Nagma: Hit Bhojpuri movies of the Bollywood actress

Politician-actor Nagma is better known for her roles in Telugu and Tamil movies like ‘Kadhalan’, ‘Gharana’, ‘Mogudu’, ‘Baashha’ and many more. She started her acting career from Bollywood movie ‘Baghi: A Rebel for love’, opposite Salman Khan. The film was recorded as the seventh highest grossing film in 1990. ‘Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi’ is a hit Bhojpuri movie of 2003, starring superstar Ravi Kishan and Nagma in the lead role. The film was a romantic drama, directed by Mohan Jee Prasad. Apart from Nagma and Ravi, Bhojpuri actress Reeta Joshi also played a pivotal role in the film. Ravi Kishan was then rumoured to having an extra-marital affair with Nagma. She has worked with megastar Rajinikanth in Tamil movie ‘Baasha’ and 1994’s ‘Kadhalan’ with Prabhu Deva.

Bhojpuri film ‘Ganga’ marks the return of Hindi superstar, Amitabh Bachchan into Bhojpuri cinema after a brief cameo in Sujit Kumar’s 1984 movie ‘Paan Khave Saiya’. The movie also included many famous stars such as Hema Malini, Manoj Tiwari, Nagma and Ravi Kishan. ‘Ganga’ was directed by Abhishek Chhadha and produced by Deepak Sawant. It was declared as a hit at the box-office at that time.

The film ‘Ab Ta Banja Sajnwa Hamaar’ is a family drama where Kishan, a farmer lives with his sister Kiran and brother Arjun in Sitapur. Things get difficult between the brothers when Arjun returns and asks Kishan to sell his land. The movie was directed by Arshad Kumar and produced by Saira Banu, starring Nagma, Ravi Kishan, Vikas Anand, Anant Jog, Taj Sapru and others.

‘Raja Thakur’ is Bhojpuri movie of Bollywood superstar Shatrughan Sinha including Nagma, Manoj Tiwari, and Tinnu Verma. The film also has songs of famous singer Shreya Ghoshal, Kalpana, Manoj Tiwari and Indu Sonali. Sinha was born in Patna, Bihar in a Kayastha family to Bhubaneswari Prasad Sinha and Shyama Devi Sinha. He completed his graduation from Patna Science College. He is also known as one of the first Bollywood actors from the region.

A romantic movie ‘Dulha Milal Dildaar’ was directed by Sunil Prasad, starring Ravi Kishan and Nagma in a lead. It is one of the hit film Bhojpuri film of Nagma and Ravi Kishan together. During his struggling days, Ravi was a part of ‘Ramleela’, where he played a role of Sita. He has also dubbed the Bhojpuri version of Peter Parker’s voice for the film ‘Spider-Man’. Apart from Hindi and Bhojpuri, he has also done some Telugu films.
