'Sipahi' to 'Rakhwala': Bhojpuri films which spoke about corruption

And since the evolution of cinema, films based on real events and social issues have been well received by the audience. In India, corruption is one of the biggest hazards that has come in the way of the nation’s progress time and again. Hence, Indian ciname has also seen many movies being made on the same issue in different areas. Likewise, even Bhojpuri cinema has several films dedicated to the topic of corruption. From ‘Sipahi’ to ‘Rakhwala’, let’s take a look at thos Bhojpuri films which portrayed corruption and its effects.

'Love Aur Rajneeti'

In the film, ‘Love Aur Rajneeti’, Anjana Singh played the lead role of a politician. The story showcases her struggle from a poor person to a political star who fights to protect the poor from the dangers of corruption. The movie also featured Ravi Kishan in the lead role while Awadhesh Mishra, Brijesh Tripathi and Manoj Pandit were seen in supporting roles. ‘Love Aur Rajneeti’ marked a bumper opening and received love from the audiences. A political-action-drama, this 2016 film was directed by Harsh Anand and produced by Asha Devi.

'Sipahi'

Dinesh Lal Yadav and Amrapali Dubey-starrer ‘Sipahi’ speaks about the problems faced by a regular police constable because of corruption. Nirahua played the role of a policeman where Amrapali Dubey as his love interest in the film. The 2017 film also stars other Bhojpuri actors such as Sushil Singh, Sanjay Pandey, Manoj Tiger and Ayaaz Khan. ‘Sipahi’ was directed by Premanshu Singh and produced by Shiv Narayan.

'Rakhwala'

‘Rakhwala’ features Dinesh Lal Yadav who played the role of a police officer who protects the nation from a villain who has the support of corrupt politicians. He also exposes in front of the society the corrupt politicians who have been helping the villain in carrying out illegal activities like robbery and kidnapping. The movie also stars Rinku Ghosh, Avdesh Mishra, Brijesh Tripathi, Santosh Srivastav and Maya Yadav in supporting roles. The 2013 film was directed by Aslam Sheikh and multi produced by Ishtiyaque Sheikh and Ritu Sharma.

'Dabang Sarkar'

In the 2018 film, Khesari Lal Yadav played the role of a boy whose father was falsely accused of murder and implicated in a false case. Later, he becomes a police officer to take revenge on his father’s killers. The movie is directed by Yogesh Raj Mishra and produced by Deepak Kumar and Rahul Vohra. Popular Bhojpuri actress Kajal Raghwani also made a special dance appearance in the film.
