Christopher Nolan’s Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer continues its stellar run in the country despite already being in the second week and facing competition from Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film has already made more than Rs 27 crore within two days of its release. The great run for Oppenheimer continues despite calls to ban the film over a controversial scene where Oppenheimer is seen reading the Bhagvad Gita during a lovemaking scene.
Oppenheimer in its first week collected Rs 73.20 crore, while on Friday it minted Rs 4.35 crore and on Saturday it nearly doubled its previous day’s collection by making Rs 7.25 crore, making a grand total of Rs 84.8 crore in just 9 days, as per trade portal Sacnilk. And the film is expected to be even better on Sunday.
On the other hand, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie’s Barbie has made just Rs 32.20 crore in nine days of its release.
It should be noted that Hollywood films over the last few weeks have done extremely well including Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning which has made more than Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office within just 18 days of its release.
