‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’ Box Office collection day 3: Tom Cruise starrer mints Rs 40 crore in India despite dip on Monday

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is back with a bang in ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, and fans in India have clearly shown up to watch his return as Ethan Hunt. The film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, hit Indian cinemas on 17 May and had a massive opening weekend at the box office. But despite a strong start, the third day saw a noticeable dip in earnings.

On its opening day, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, as reported by Sacnilk, made a whopping Rs. 16.5 crore in India. It followed up strongly on the second day with Rs. 17 crore, bringing its two-day total to Rs. 33.5 crore. Tom Cruise has a solid fan base in India, and the buzz around the eighth and final instalment of the MI series helped fill seats quickly. Audiences were eager to see what this final mission would offer, and the first two days certainly reflected that excitement at the ticket counters.
Day 3 dip slows momentum
However, things took a turn on the third day. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ only managed to earn Rs. 6.75 crore on day three. This brings the film’s three-day total to Rs. 40.25 crore. The drop in numbers suggests the initial rush may have slowed.
Occupancy trends of day 3
Occupancy trends for the English version of ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ on Monday, 19 May, showed an overall rate of 15.65%. Morning shows recorded the lowest turnout with just 8.55% occupancy, while afternoon shows saw a modest rise to 15.52%. The numbers picked up further in the evening with 17.09%, and night shows performed the best, drawing 21.44% occupancy.


Smashing records for Hollywood in 2025
Even with the dip on day three, ‘The Final Reckoning’ has already become the highest opening weekend for a Hollywood film in India this year. It has managed to beat other recent international releases like ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ and Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’. Within just two days, the film overtook the total collections of ‘Thunderbolts’ and went past the two-day figure of ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’. That’s no small feat and speaks volumes about the film’s draw and Tom Cruise’s star power in India.

Can it beat the franchise record?
With Rs. 40.25 crore already in the bag, the big question now is whether ‘The Final Reckoning’ can cross the Rs. 110 crore lifetime record set by the previous film in the series. There’s a good amount of buzz and momentum still going, but it will depend on how well the film holds up during the weekdays and the next weekend. If it can keep attracting audiences and avoid too much of a drop in ticket sales, the record might not be too far out of reach.
