'The Garfield Movie' faces a major drop to collect Rs 38 lakh on Tuesday

Garfield is one of the most loved and well known cats in the world, known for his love for lasagna and hatred for Mondays. The character was recently turned into a film for the big screen. It is yet to release domestically in the United States of America, but has been released in many countries across the globe. The film revolves around Garfield voiced by Chris Pratt, who meets his long last father Vic, voiced by Samuel L Jackson and together, they plan a heist! In India, the makers have roped in Varun Sharma known for his ‘Choocha’ act from ‘Fukrey’ series as the voice of Garfield.

The film had a slow start on Friday where it collected just Rs 80 lakh, but on Saturday it saw a jump of over 100 % to collect Rs 1.61 crore, and on Sunday it jumped even more to collect Rs 1.84 crore. On Monday despite it being a holiday on the occasion of Lok Sabha elections in few key markets in India, the film crashed by nearly 67 % to earn only Rs 61 lakhs, and on Tuesday the film crashed even further to collect Rs 38 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 5.25 crore.

The Garfield Movie has currently earned more than US $ 50 million from its international screenings.
