A week ahead of the release of 'The Conjuring 2', director James Wan has rediscovered his love for the horror genre. James feels quite happy when told that the first part of 'The Conjuring' was well-received in India. He said that he came to know about it when lots of his Indian fans tweeted to him about the movie. Interestingly, James’ decision to make a sequel to 'The Conjuring' came as a surprise to his fans since he went on record saying that he is done with horror genre and would focus on other genres.

James is well-known for making horror movies like 'Dead Silence', 'Insidious', 'Insidious: Chapter 2'. James made 'Furious 7' after he got a little bored with making horror movies.

Since we associate horror movies with ghosts, James would have us believe that his movies are even enjoyed by those who don’t believe in religion and ghosts. “They have even managed to feel for the characters,’’ the director was quoted as saying in the report.
When asked if movies like ‘The Conjuring’, which are based on a true story, stifle his creativity, James said, "In this franchise, I have to create believable situations, and the story needs to be grounded. So, yes, I suppose it restricts what I do, but that’s not really a bad thing. It’s that control and restraint that make these films as they are. If I want to make an over-the-top film, I can always go back to ‘Insidious.'"
Since 'The Conjuring 2' deals with questions like life after death, is the movie more complex than the first one? "I definitely wanted to focus more on the Warrens. I think ‘The Conjuring’ worked so well because people really cared for them. I wasn’t losing sight of that. ‘The Conjuring 2’, in that sense, is more than just a horror film,’" James revealed.
