97-year-old veteran actor Dick Van Dyke collides into a gate; suffers minor injuries

Reports have poured in that Hollywood icon, Dick Van Dyke, the veteran 97-year-old actor who starred in Mary Poppins in 1964 and other classics from the 1960s has suffered minor injuries in a car accident in Malibu.
Police have confirmed that while driving his Lexus, Dick was involved in a collision in Malibu, California. He apparently crashed his car into a gate. The 97-year-old told police that his car slid into a gate after losing control on a rain-splattered road. The actor suffered a concussion and was treated at the scene, however, he refused a trip to the hospital. According to sources, drugs and alcohol were not involved. However, he might be asked to retake the driving test after the accident despite him being 97-years-old. A friend picked him up and drove him home as he refused to go to the hospital.

Dick Van Dyke is credited with more than seven decades of award-winning work in theatre, television, and films. Van Dyke had won numerous honours, including a Daytime Emmy, a Daytime Tony, a Grammy, four Primetime Emmys, and a Golden Globe.
