The original CG anime short features Pikachu and Tim going on an adventure to find the latter’s stolen favourite dessert. In their initial investigation, they suspected Pikachu's friend, Munchlax as the main culprit, but the plot thickens as the story moves forward.

For the unversed, the franchise of ‘Detective Pikachu’ began in 2016, with the Nintendo 3DS video game. In the game, the players assume the role of the detective to solve the mystery in Ryme City. The game was highly loved by the audience; it was its quirky sense of humour that garnered a lot of love and attention. Later more such games were introduced and then in 2019, ‘Detective Pikachu’s live-action film was released.

In the live-action drama, Tim Goodman and Pikachu join forces and search for Tim’s missing father, Harry. The simple missing case took a terrifying turn, as it showed a darker version of Ryme City and it also involved the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. The movie made over $144 million domestically, while internationally, the film earned over $289 million.

Earlier this year, producers told the fans that they can expect ‘Detective Pikachu 2.’ The makers also revealed that Jonathan Krisel would don the director's hat for the sequel. Last but not least, a spin-off of the live-action drama is also expected to be on the horizon.
