'Avengers: Doomsday', 'The Odyssey', 'Dune Part Three': Hollywood's biggest films releasing in 2026

2026 is finally here and there's no better place to be than the theatres with this epic lineup of films hitting the big screens. While some set out to make a splash, others are eyeing box office glory in what is predicted to be Hollywood's biggest year yet, with its stacked lineup that will ensure the cash counters do not stop ringing. From Marvel giving fans the long-awaited reset with 'Avengers: Doomsday' to Denis Villeneuve’s final trek across Arrakis in 'Dune Part 3', to Christopher Nolan taking a trip back in time with 'The Odyssey', here’s a look at the blockbusters set to shake up the box office.

2/10

Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel Studios is going all in to bring back fallen heroes and finally hit the reset button after a disastrous 5 with few hits and a lot more misses. 'Avengers: Doomsday' arrives December 18, in what may just be the MCU’s biggest course correction yet. This time, the fate of the multiverse is in the hands of the Russo Brothers, who have brought back Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston to help take fans on another epic journey through time, space, galaxies and everything in between. The stakes couldn’t be higher with all that is riding on the film to smash a homerun at the box office and possibly score a record USD 3 billion collection.

3/10

The Odyssey

All aboard, it's almost time to set sail with director Christopher Nolan on a journey through time and Greek mythology in 'The Odyssey'. After 'Oppenheimer', the director will try to rewrite the box office record books and this time, possibly surpass the USD 1 billion mark. Slated to release on July 17, the film is touted to be one of the biggest IMAX releases of the year.

4/10

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

After watching Tom Holland swing onto your timelines with the leak of all the 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' set videos, it'll only be a matter of time until July 31 when fans finally get to see Peter Parker in action on the big screen. Following the memory wipe that closed No Way Home with a whopping USD 1 billion haul, Brand New Day will explore a Spider-Man untethered from friendships, fame, and safety nets. Destin Daniel Cretton steps in as director, for the fourth Spidey film with special Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Michael Mando’s Scorpion and Marvin Jones III’s Tombstone adding muscle to this superhero tale. Also making her MCU debut, will be Sadie Sink, who will finally reveal her true colours as heroine or villain.

5/10

Dune: Part Three

'Barbenheimer' was so 2023. Now, get ready for 'Dunesday' with 'Dune: Part Three' set to open the same day as 'Avengers: Doomsday'; scheduling a showdown for the ages. Denis Villeneuve completes his trilogy, chronicling the consequences of Paul Atreides’ ascent. Anya Taylor-Joy steps fully into the role of Alia Atreides, while Robert Pattinson joins the ensemble cast as the shapeshifting conspirator Scytale.

6/10

Supergirl

If 2025 was about Superman taking to the skies, 2026 is about his cousin, Supergirl. House of the Dragon breakout star Milly Alcock steps up as Kara Zor-El a drunk, more hardened counterpoint to Superman. Drawing from Woman of Tomorrow and a touch of 'Guardians of the Galaxy', this one, as the trailer suggests, sees the superhero give fans a first-time glimpse into her darker past, including the death of her home planet.

7/10

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Miranda Priestly is back! The two-decade-long wait to this iconic sequel ends on May 1, 2026 when Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci strut back into Runway magazine in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'. The film not only expands its fashion-world influence, but also adds new faces with Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, and Simone Ashley joining the lineup.

8/10

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

May the odds be ever in your favour as you take a train back to Panem with a prequel centred on a young Haymitch Abernathy during the brutal 50th Hunger Games. The film stars Joseph Zada in the lead cast alongside McKenna Grace, Ben Wang and Ralph Fiennes taking on the role of President Snow, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film releasing on November 20, also brings back Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark for a special appearance.

9/10

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

After smashing their way into the USD 1 billion club, it was only fair to give The Super Mario Bros. Movie another run at the box office. Nintendo and Illumination are heading beyond the Mushroom Kingdom, straight into outer space for this next chapter. Slated for a May 1, 2026 release, the film stars Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. The sequel will also introduce Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. and Brie Larson as Rosalina.

10/10

Wuthering Heights

If things get hot and heavy this Valentine's day, just blame Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The duo no one knew they needed will step up on the big screens this February 13 to teach the ladies and gents a thing or two on love, lust, longing, obsession, heartbreak and vengeance as they take on the roles of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's provocative adaptation of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. One look at the trailer and you'll know for sure that this film is anything but conventional.
