She had alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her and that he also attempted to run a smear campaign against her. Baldoni responded by denying all allegations. Not only that, but he even filed a countersuit against the actress seeking USD 400 million in damages.
Taylor Swift’s involvement in the Baldoni-Lively case
Initially, in May 2025, the ‘All Too Well’ singer was subpoenaed as a witness for Justin Baldoni’s defamation countersuit worth USD 400 million. Swift’s spokesperson, as per The Statesman, had said that the subpoena was a way of “creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
The case and subpoena were dropped a month later. However, in the defamation case, Swift had been labeled as the “megacelebrity friend” that Lively used to get Baldoni to accept her rewrites for the film.
Recently released text messages between the ‘Another Simple Favour’ actress and ‘Blank Space’ singer reveal that while they had talked about the scripts and Swift coming to her house to do a reading, she had stated multiple times that the singer did not have to.

Lively then further addressed their fallout directly to Swift, as advised by her husband, Ryan Reynolds. She texted the singer, “You were generous to not only be the key person there for me during all of it, but also to let me off the hook for being so in it. I always want the opportunity to be a better friend if there's something I unintentionally did. I know how busy and taxed you are - physically, emotionally, practically, so I don't expect any more from you ever. Just want to make sure all is good.”
In response, Swift had simply said that she was not wrong; however, it was not a big deal for her.
