The film has been directed by Mangesh Hadawale, who had won the National Award for his first Marathi film titled "Tingya". Busan is regarded as one of the most prestigious and biggest Asian film festivals and "DCD" had its world premiere at the New Currents section in the festival.Set against the backdrop of election, the film is about how a mother resolves to take her children to see a circus despite being faced with abject poverty. Says Tannishtha Chatterjee, "This is a huge high for Indian cinema. Busan is a very prestigious festival. Mangesh's movie has been critically acclaimed by the critics too. It talks about the problems of real India without getting too heavy in its approach."Tannishtha, however, couldn't attend the Festival in Korea because of her other shooting commitments in India and abroad. Mangesh is yet to return to India after having attended the festival at the South Korean port city of Busan.
