Christian Bale CONFIRMS role in 'Heat 2' alongside Leonardo DiCaprio

Oscar-winning Christian Bale has officially confirmed his role in 'Heat 2'. The actor will now be joining fellow Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio in the film that is said to be a long-awaited sequel to Michael Mann’s 1995 crime classic.

Bale, in his latest interview with Fox News, announced his casting in the upcoming film. He sad, “I’ll be back in Chicago soon for Heat 2!”

The confirmation comes months after rumours of his involvement first began doing the round on social media back in November. However, details about Bale and DiCaprio’s roles in the upcoming film remain under wraps, with production set to begin in August, with the shoot scheduled to take place across multiple international locations like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Singapore and Paraguay.

'Heat 2' is said to be based on Mann’s 2022 novel which serves as both a prequel and sequel to the original 1995 thriller. The oriinal film famously starred Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as a master thief and the relentless detective tracking him across Los Angeles. The ensemble cast also included the late Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, Jon Voight and Natalie Portman.

Over the years, the film went on to be regarded as one of the greatest Hollywood crime thrillers.

Which actor will play younger versions of characters

Speculation has swirled about how Mann will depict younger versions of Pacino and De Niro’s iconic characters. Industry chatter has also indicated that actor Adam Driver will also join the film as a younger version of De Niro’s character. Meanwhile, Austin Butler has also been rumoured to take on the role of Chris Shiherlis, originally portrayed by Kilmer.

In a 2022 interview with The Independent, Al Pacino was asked about the possibility of Timothee Chalamet taking on the younger version of his character.
