According to TMZ, filming for the highly anticipated movie began a few weeks ago, and the scale of the set suggests that Nolan is aiming for an epic adaptation of the classic story. The project has already sparked interest among fans, with many revisiting the ancient text to refresh their memory before the film’s release in July 2026.

Universal had announced the star-studded cast in December, featuring well-known actors who have worked with Nolan before. The lineup includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, and Charlize Theron. Universal recently shared a first-look image of Matt Damon in character as Odysseus, dressed in full historical attire, looking intense and ready for action.

After wrapping up filming in Morocco, the production is scheduled to move to Sicily, Italy, and the island of Favignana. Interestingly, Favignana is a real location mentioned in the original Odyssey, making it a fitting choice for the shoot.

With a massive budget of $250 million, Nolan’s take on The Odyssey is expected to be an ambitious cinematic experience. Given his track record with large-scale films, expectations are high, and fans are eager to see how he brings the ancient tale to life on the big screen.
