Daisy Edgar-Jones reveals endometriosis struggle and acne battle in honest beauty video
Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has spoken publicly for the first time about her battle with endometriosis, revealing how the condition affected her body for years before she received a diagnosis. The 27-year-old star shared her experience while filming a beauty routine video for Vogue on YouTube. In the video, she discussed painful periods, hormonal changes, and severe acne that shaped her teenage years and early adulthood.
She said, “I have endometriosis, so my hormones are kind of all over the place. I had extremely bad acne for most of my teenage years.”
The actress also recalled how deeply the acne affected her confidence during those years.
“When I had terrible acne, it was all I could see when I looked in the mirror. For so long, I had such painful periods and really volatile skin.”
She added that receiving the diagnosis finally brought clarity.
“I was diagnosed when I was, I think I was 24. I was definitely relieved to find out why I was going through it.”
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside the uterus, often on the ovaries or fallopian tubes. According to the NHS, the illness affects an estimated two million women in the United Kingdom. It can lead to inflammation, scar tissue, severe period pain, chronic pelvic pain, and infertility.
“I’ve found over the years skincare that really works for me,” she said.
She also noticed that changes to her diet made a difference.
“But I also find drinking lots of water and when I eat well – especially when I try and not eat as much dairy – that really helps.”
The actress offered encouragement to people who struggle with acne, urging them not to let it define their self-image.
“When I had terrible acne, it was all I could see when I looked in the mirror,” she said. “But actually, when I look back at photos and videos, it’s funny that so much of the beauty of you is inside, and the confidence that you wear can really help.”
“So I would say to anyone with acne – I know it’s all you can see, but it’s not what everyone else can see.”
Away from her health journey, Edgar-Jones has kept her personal life relatively private. Last month, she made a rare public appearance with photographer boyfriend Ben Seed at a Krug and Max Richter event in London. The couple tends to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.
Seed previously dated 'The Queen's Gambit' star Anya Taylor-Joy. Edgar-Jones was in a relationship with Tom Varey before their split in late 2020. Sources told The Sun that Edgar-Jones and Seed have grown close and often spend time together in East London, where they enjoy visiting local bars and markets.
