    Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh portrayed the character of Auro, a 12 year old boy suffering from progeria in the movie “Paa”. He won the National Award for Best Actor.
    Shahrukh Khan: Shahrukh portrayed the character of Rizwan Khan, who suffers from asperger’s syndrome, in the movie “My Name Is Khan”. He had done a lot of research on the subject and his character.
    Hrithik Roshan: Hrithik portrayed the character of Ethan in the movie “Guzaarish”, who is a magician and is paralyzed from neck down. He also portrayed the character of Rohit in the movie “Koi Mil Gaya” who is a 21 year old with the brain of a 7 year old.
    Sanjeev Kumar: Sanjeev portrays the character of Hari in the movie “Koshish”, who inspite of being deaf and mute, never gives up hope on life.
    Jaya Bhaduri: Jaya portrays the character of Aarthi in the movie “Koshish”, who is deaf and mute, and gets married to a boy with the same disability. She tries to keep up in the society along with her husband.
    Rani Mukherji: Rani portrayed the character of Michelle, a blind and deaf girl in the movie “Black”. The movie was inspired from Helen Keller’s life. To prepare for the role, she studied the sign language and braille for seven months.
    Darsheel Safary: Darsheel portrayed the character of an 8 year old boy, who suffers from dyslexia in the movie “Taare Zameen Par”. The movie received positive reviews from the critics.
    Ranbir Kapoor: Ranbir portrayed the character of Murphy “Barfi” Johnson, who is deaf and mute by birth in the movie “Barfi”. He was inspired by Academy Award winning actors Roberto Benigni, Charlie Chaplin and his grandfather Raj Kapoor.
    Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka portrayed the character of Jhilmil Chaterjee, who has autism, in the movie “Barfi”. She went through a three day workshop to convince Anurag Basu, the director of the movie, that she could play the part.
    Kajol: Kajol portrayed the character of Zooni Ali Beg, a blind Kashmiri girl, in the movie “Fanaa”. The film recieved positive reviews from the critics and was a blockbuster at the box office.
