David Benioff unveils his favourite death scene from 'Game of Thrones'

During a recent interview on his YouTube channel, Josh Horowitz sat down with David Benioff and DB Weiss to discuss various aspects of the show. They delved into topics such as graphic scenes and the impactful deaths of characters.

David Benioff chose Ramsay Bolton's death scene as his favorite character death from "Game of Thrones." He described a particular moment at the end of the Battle of the Bastards when Sophie Turner, who portrayed Sansa Stark, fixed the sticks to form an "X" on Ramsay, played by Iwan Rheon. Benioff mentioned that the camera captured Sansa's smile in one continuous shot, emphasizing the satisfaction of her revenge. He recalled the dedication of Turner, who performed the scene multiple times until achieving the desired result, expressing his admiration for her talent. Benioff reminisced while standing with co-creator Dan Weiss, feeling fulfilled by Turner's performance and the impact of the scene, suggesting that he could have died happy in that moment.

Weiss said that there was so much killing of good guys that when they finally got to kill both Joffrey in season four and Ramsay Bolton in season six, it was fun to go back to the old-fashioned kind of joy of just killing off a really bad guy. It felt like it was maybe balancing the scales a little bit. So that was always enjoyable.

'Game of Thrones', which aired from 2011 to 2019 across eight seasons, emerged as one of the most significant television series ever produced. It pushed the careers of actors such as Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, and Kit Harington to stardom. Now, its prequel, 'House of the Dragon', is set to receive a second season.
