Devil Wears Prada 2 was submitted for an A certification in India
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has as many fans lining up in theatres in India as anywhere else, but the film has been released here with an A certificate. While it may seem that the Central Board of Film Certification restricted it to adult audiences, deeming it unsuitable for all age groups, it turns out the studios themselves applied for this certification.
A source from the studio confirmed, “Yes, the film has been given an A rating.” The studio has not responded to questions about why the film received an A certification in India when it has been rated 6+ and 12+ in other markets.
However, sources aware of the certification process informed, “The film was submitted for ‘A’ certification by the applicants to avoid any possible modifications, and it could have qualified for a ‘UA’ category had the applicants been open to changes recommended by the screening committee.” India, therefore, is the only country where the film is rated A.
