Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, passed away at the age of 91, it was announced on Thursday.
Armani, often hailed as one of the most influential designers of the modern era, reportedly died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness, as reported by Deadline.
The news of his demise was made public in an official statement released by his family and company employees. The note read, "In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love."
As news of his passing broke, tributes poured in from across the globe. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who has often made quite the fashion statement in Armani pieces, took to his Instagram handle to share a black and white photo of the designer on the runway and simply captioned it as #GiorgioArmani. He added a dove emoticon.
