The Notebook

Filmmaker Nick Cassavetes 2004 release 'The Notebook' which is based on Nicholas Sparks' 1996 novel with the same name was Gosling's first film which helped him gain wider recognition. The romantic drama which starred Rachel McAdams and Gosling in the lead roles has gone down in the history of filmmaking as one of the best romantic drama. The film not only helped the birthday boy breakthrough in the cinema circuit but he also managed to win over the audience with his brilliant acting skills as well.

Another astounding romantic drama with a pinch of music, birthday boy Ryan Gosling teamed up with Emma Stone for this visual treat. Apart from the leading actors' splendid performance, their swift dance moves and chemistry left the audience on the edge of their seats. The Damien Chazelle directorial was a huge hit at the box office and even bagged several prestigious awards as well.

Ryan Gosling once again proved his acting calibre on the silver screen when he signed up to star in the multi-starrer 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'. The film which paired him opposite Emma Stone once again also featured Steve Carell and Julianne Moore in pivotal roles. But despite Carell's phenomenal performance, it was the birthday boy's classic charisma that won over the audience.

After making a mark in the cinematic industry with his notable performance in 'The Notebook', Gosling bagged a role in Derek Cianfrance's 2010 romantic drama 'Blue Valentine'. Gosling and his co-star Michelle Williams even rented a home and tried to survive a few days with a specific budget just to get into the skin of their characters. The film turned out to be one of the most critically acclaimed films in Gosling's career which even earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor nomination as well.

The birthday boy's 2017 release 'Song to Song' which even featured the likes of Rooney Mara, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett ended up receiving a mix response from the critics. Despite the film's failure, Ryan Gosling managed to impress the audience with his perfection in front of the camera. The plot of the film revolved around the struggles of a couple and ended up doing a decent business at the box office as well.
