Harry Potter's director Chris Columbus doesn't want to be part of new series; says, 'There's nothing left for me to do...'

Harry Potter – the fantasy world everyone desired to be a part of – played a great role in shaping the years. While not everyone was a book nerd to delve into the intricacies of Hogwarts University, the movies shaped the children, where the sorting hat became the revelry during a fun time. As the new ‘Harry Potter’ series loops, the director of the film franchise has denied being part of the new world, citing that there is nothing more for him to experiment with.

Chris Columbus, who gave a billion-dollar franchise, claimed that he has no desire to be a part of the small-screen Harry Potter. “No, I’ve done it, you saw my version,” he said, during an interview with Variety, before adding, “There’s nothing left for me to do in the world of Potter.” While he may not be a part of the newer wizarding world, Columbus is not against the adaptation – in fact, he might be a tad envious.

Chris Columbus wished the characters had the opportunity to grow

Speaking about the films, the 66-year-old recalled that he wanted to incorporate intricate details in the first three films, but there wasn’t enough time to give the characters liberty to grow – especially Peeves, who was mentioned in the early books. However, the series makers have decided to give an authentic adaptation of the books, making it possible to see the characters grow and connect on a deeper level. “We could never get that incredible scene into the film, and I’m sure it’ll be in the HBO series. So for me, it’s an opportunity to bring all those scenes to life,” he said.

As the behind-the-scenes dropped on social media, Columbus said that he had a ‘deja vu’ moment to see Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Frost shooting a scene as Harry Potter and Hagrid, respectively.
